Budget Binder Supplies

If you’re putting together a budget binder, these are all of my favorite supplies.

Great Pens

Really good pens are my new obsession! I love the Pilot Precise V5 Extra Fine Pens. They write so smoothly and the fine line is perfect for when you need to write small.

For writing in color, the Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens are wonderful! The colors are beautiful, they write smoothly, and the ink dries quickly.

Dividers with Pockets

I have a bunch of different sections in my budget binder, so dividers make flipping to the right section easy. Having dividers with pockets is amazing! I use one pocket to store all of the bills we still need to pay and another pocket for papers that need to be filed.

Seriously, get dividers with pockets. They help me stay organized and I can always find what I need because of them!

Lined Post-It Notes

I often stick a large lined Post-It Note to the inside cover of my budget binder. I’ll write notes about changes to make to my budget for next month or expenses that I need to remember to budget for.

I always read through my notes when I go to make my next month’s budget. These Post-It Notes ensure that I don’t forget anything important that I thought of throughout the previous month.

Cardstock

I print all of my budget printables on cardstock. Since I’m flipping through them daily and many of them are used for a few months or the whole year, I like them to be extra durable.

Three Hole Punch

Don’t forget your three hole punch. You’ll be adding pages to your budget binder every month, so you’ve got to have one of these!

The Binder

And, oh yeah, the binder! There are all kinds of pretty binders out there if you want to get fancy, which I totally recommend! Budgeting is definitely more fun with beautiful supplies!

At the moment I use a simple white, 1 inch binder. I like that it has the clear sleeve in front so that I can add a picture to the cover. If you plan to use your binder for more than just budgeting (like meal planning, emergency contacts, takeout menus, etc.) you may want a larger size.

Someday I’ll upgrade my binder to something fancier, like this gold marble binder. So pretty!

You can go as simple or as fancy as you want with your budget binder supplies. I’ve found that great supplies make the process more enjoyable which is why I wanted to share my favorites. Happy budgeting!
