4 Pieces of “Mom Wisdom”

This is the wisdom of my wonderful mama! 4 things she tells me all the time when I need advice | Mother's Day quotes | Mom Wisdom FYI: Mother’s Day is Sunday! There still plenty of time to make your mama a card, buy a plant, print and frame a photo, or whatever else you do to celebrate.

While we didn’t always see eye to eye when I was younger, my mom is now one of my favorite people and closest friends. I find myself becoming more and more like her as I grow older, which I think is a good thing 🙂

Because it’s almost Mother’s Day, today’s post features the wisdom of my wonderful mama, otherwise known as “stuff my mom says”.

These four saying are so ingrained in me that I’ve even heard myself saying these little words of wisdom to others a few times!

4 Pieces of “Mom Wisdom”

“If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.”

Basically, if you don’t like where you’re at, you’re going to have to make a change. Our lives don’t change unless we do.

“Plan the plan, work the plan.”

My mama tells me this when I’m overwhelmed.

Breaking a large task into smaller chunks and creating a plan makes it much less overwhelming. Then, once you have a plan, you just have to work the plan. It still may not be easy, but it is doable.

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard this one… Haha!

If you don’t ask, then the answer is always no. If you don’t try, then of course it’s not going to happen.

As someone who is afraid to be told ‘no’ and doesn’t like failing, I sometimes play things too safe and only go for something if I’m pretty sure I’ll succeed. This piece of my mama’s wisdom reminds me to branch out and try. You never know if you can do something or not unless you try.

“God can’t move a parked car.”

Ok, so maybe God could move a parked car if he wanted to but I love this one!

I think this is a good reminder to get out and do something instead of waiting for some big event or sign to happen for you.

I didn’t discover my career by sitting home. I took various classes and worked all kinds of different jobs. I found a lot of paths that I didn’t want to continue down before I found one that I liked.

I think if you’re looking for direction in life, the best thing to do is get out and try tons of stuff. Once you’re “moving”, it’s easier to figure out what direction to move in.

My mom has given me her words of wisdom countless times over the years. It’s amazing how her little sayings always seem to apply to so many of life’s situations.

So, Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and to all of you mothers reading this. I’d LOVE to read some of your mom’s wisdom in the comments!

Love this post, Christine! My mom taught me to live with 90% of what I earn. She told me I could save more, but at least save 10% that way I always have a cushion. That has been the most valuable advice I have ever been taught. I think that is why I have a hard time spending money and an easy time saving.
