April Goals Update + Pics

Another month is done guys!

April went by so fast for me.

We celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary with some delicious food!

If you haven’t tried sweet potato fries, you need to find a restaurant that serves them. Amazing.

And I had a steak called an “ugly steak”. Apparently it’s a weird cut, like from the neck or something. Anyways, really good.

We’re still waiting for some good weather around here. We’ve had a few really nice days that we got out to walk at the park, but still far too many chilly and rainy days for my liking.

I’m ready to live somewhere that is sunny and warm most of the year. Who’s with me!?

Here are a few of my favorite blog posts from April that you might have missed:

Continue exercising 5-6 days a week – Meh.

I got moving for 20 out of the 30 days in April.

It’s certainly not terrible considering a year ago I was hardly exercising at all, but it’s my worst month so far this year.

I really don’t have a good excuse either. I had the time. I was just exhausted and entirely unmotivated. It’s time to get back at it. I need to find some powerful motivation. Suggestions?

I just keep trying to remind myself that I’m working towards a healthier life. It’s not like a month-long diet. I want a lifestyle of fitness.

Start making an income from home – still a work in progress.

I’m seeing tiny bits of improvement in my attempts to make a little bit of money from home, but still nothing huge. I should have some extra time to work on this in May, so that’s exciting.

I have such a hard time focusing on one thing at a time though. I’ve got so many ideas and there are so many different ways to make money from home. I try to do it all and then I don’t really do anything, you know?

I need to prioritize and focus.

Save $1000 for retirement – 40% accomplished!

We added another $100 to our IRA in April, so we’re still chugging along. We’re not really getting any good interest from our IRA at the moment, but it’s a long-term investment, so hopefully it will get better over time.

Save $1000 For Travel – 57% accomplished!

$100 was deposited into our travel fund in April too!

We’re not entirely sure what this will be used for yet. We’re waiting to see how a few job situations work out in the next few months before we make any travel plans. Hopefully we’ll be able to go somewhere this winter.

I’m thinking of a few exciting options:

  • Southern Utah to visit my family – it’s within a few hours of a lot of cool places and my fella has never been that far west.
  • Orlando – we’ve been wanting to go back to Universal Studios to see the new Harry Potter part of the park. #Always
  • Asheville, NC – it’s supposed to be great place to vacation with your dog and of course Mozzie will be traveling with us.

Stick to our monthly budget – Success!

We did really well with our budget this month!

We were careful not to go out to eat too much (this has been a big problem for us 🙂 ) and we didn’t have anything unexpected pop up so I’m pretty excited about that.

Great goals for the month and hope it went well! I always enjoy reading these type of goal setting posts. Do you think you'll continue to write more goal posts in the future? Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks Graham! I think setting goals is so important! I do plan to write about my goals more in the future. I'm thinking about quarterly updates instead of monthly though. We'll see.

Thanks Francesca! I've never seen a steak like this anywhere else so I don't know if that's an actual name for it or if it's just what they call it. Yummy either way!

I love your monthly updates! All of your travel ideas sound amazing, but I vote for Asheville, NC! Have to have a fun place for Mozzie! Last month, I decided to start eating gluten-free, so I'm hoping to keep it up and lessen my slip ups. We are finally starting to harvest some veggies, so it should get easier.

Thanks Erin! That's SOO exciting that you are harvesting veggies! We can't even plant our garden until around Memorial day.
